Privacy Policy

Overview

SheetSmart is a Chrome extension that helps you generate Google Sheets formulas using AI. We are committed to your privacy. In short: we do not collect personal data and we do not access your spreadsheet content.

What SheetSmart Does

SheetSmart is a Chrome extension for Google Sheets formula generation. You describe what you want in plain English, and the extension generates the appropriate formula using AI. It can also explain existing formulas you paste in.

Data We Do Not Collect

• No personal data: We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information through the extension.
• No spreadsheet data: We do not access, read, or transmit any data from your Google Sheets spreadsheets. The content of your cells, rows, and columns remains entirely private.
• No browsing history: We do not track what websites you visit or your browsing activity.
• No usage analytics: We do not collect telemetry or usage data from the extension.

How the AI Works

When you type a formula request (e.g., "sum column B where column A is January"), that text prompt is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a formula. The prompt contains only what you explicitly type — nothing from your spreadsheet is included automatically.

Anthropic processes this request and returns the formula. The data is not stored beyond the scope of the request. See Anthropic's privacy policy for details on how they handle API data.

What's Stored Locally

SheetSmart stores two things in your browser's local Chrome storage — on your device only, never on our servers:

• API key: Your Anthropic API key (if you provide your own) is stored in Chrome's local storage on your device. It is never transmitted to us.
• Formula history: Formulas you generate are saved locally in Chrome storage for your convenience. This data never leaves your browser.

Pro Subscriptions

If you upgrade to SheetSmart Pro, billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. We only receive a Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription status.

To process a subscription, we collect only your email address, which is shared with Stripe for billing purposes.

Third-Party Services

• Anthropic — processes your formula prompts via their API. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Stripe — handles payment processing for Pro subscriptions. See Stripe's privacy policy.

Chrome Extension Permissions

SheetSmart requests only the permissions required to function:

• storage — to save your API key and formula history locally in Chrome.
• activeTab / scripting — to insert generated formulas into your active Google Sheets tab when you click "Insert Formula."

We do not request access to all tabs, browsing history, or any data beyond what is listed above.

Children's Privacy

SheetSmart is designed for productivity use and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from minors.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
